 All Members of the Berkeley Hunt

 

 

 

HUNT SUBSCRIPTION RULES

1.       It is a requirement that those who wish to subscribe to the Berkeley Hunt or to hunt with the Berkeley Hounds on a cap must be members of the Countryside Alliance.  A valid membership number must be provided when subscriptions or caps are paid.

2.       Similarly, those who subscribe to the Berkeley Hunt must be members of The Berkeley Hunt Supporters Club.  This rule does not apply to those hunting on a cap.

3.       In these rules the term ‘farmer’ means those whose sole occupation is farming with land over which the Berkeley Hounds run, and their immediate families.  They are not required to pay subscriptions, field money nor caps but they must abide by the rules for membership of the Countryside Alliance and the Berkeley Hunt Supporters Club.

 

4.a.       Ladies and Gentlemen residing within the boundaries of the Berkeley Hunt will be called upon to subscribe at the following rates:

Subscription E includes a maximum of one Marsh Day.  Only one Subscription E may be taken out in a season.  If further hunting is required three more days may be taken under normal capping rules (Para 7) otherwise a full A, B, D or D subscription must be taken without discount.

4.b.       Payment Dates.  Subscriptions are due to be received in full by the Hunt Secretary by 15th August before autumn hunting starts or by 1st June for those who wish to pay at the discounted rate.  This rate also applies to those paying by Bankers Order over a 10 month period starting on 1st June.  Those whose subscriptions have not been received by the due date will have to pay a non-refundable daily cap for each day until it has been received.  After the opening meet such payments will count as part of the three days maximum cap allowed per season.

4.c.  Payment by Banker’s Order.  Those who wish to pay their subscriptions by Banker’s Order will pay over a period of 10 months starting on 1st June at the discounted rate.

4.d.       Subscription F.  Point-to-point owners and syndicates must pay a minimum subscription per horse.  This subscription includes Field Money and the levy payable to the Point-to-Point board.  It is not payable by farmers (para 3).

4.e.       Field money must be paid in addition to subscriptions A, B, C, D and E.

4.f.       Half or fractional subscriptions are not available.

4.g.       Every subscription (A, B, C, D, and E) entitles the subscriber to take part in all Hill country meets.

4.h.       Ladies and Gentlemen residing outside the Hunt Boundaries will be required to pay an extra 25% of their subscription.

4.i.        Serving members of the Armed Forces are subject to special rates and should apply to the Hunt Secretary.

4.j.        For any further queries please contact the Hunt Secretary.

YOUNG PEOPLE

5a.        Young people who will be over the age of 21 and under the age of 25 on 1st November will pay a subscription of 50% of the 1st June rates either by Banker’s Order over 10 months from 1st June, or by 15th August.  There are no further discounts.  Field money at 50% rate is payable in addition.

5b.        From the opening meet young people under the age of 21 on 1st November will be called to pay a cap for each day they hunt as follows:

18-21 years                                                                   £35

            10-17 years                                                                   £20

            Under 10                                                                        £5

5c.        Young children under 10 may be accompanied by an adult and may hunt for two hours from the time of the meet at a special cap of £25 for both.

5d.        Bona fide students between the ages of 21 and 25 should apply to the Hunt Secretary for a special rate.

5e.        Those under 12 may not hunt in the Marsh.

CAPS

7a.        Main Hunting Season.  No lady or gentleman who is not a subscriber to the Berkeley Hunt may hunt with the Berkeley hounds from the Opening Meet onwards without prior arrangement with the Hunt Secretary, and if allowed to do so will be capped at the rate to be agreed with the Hunt Secretary.  Such caps can only be granted to an individual up to three times a season, and after that a full subscription must be paid.

7b.        A subscriber who wishes to hunt on a day not subscribed for should apply to the Secretary.

7c.        All caps are inclusive of Field Money.

7d.        Caps for all Hill Country meets (other than for Young People) will be at 50% of normal rates.

7e.        Autumn Hunting.  From the first autumn hunting meet in August until 1st October all those hunting, except those under 21, will pay a non-refundable Cap of £20 until their full  subscription has been received by the Hunt Secretary.  From 1st October until the Opening Meet the Cap will be £50.  For those aged 10-21 the Cap will be £15 throughout and for those under 10 it will be £5.

7f.        Subscribers to the Beaufort Hunt may hunt free of Cap during Hill Hunting while that Hunt offers a similar arrangement.

7g.        Farmers visiting from another hunt will be asked to pay a cap of £25.

FIELD MONEY

8a.        Field Money is payable from the start of Autumn Hunting.  Until the Opening Meet the rate is £10.  After the Opening Meet the rate is £25.  This payment will cease when the compounded rate is received by the Hunt Secretary.  Caps include Field Money (see para 7c).

8b.        Ladies and Gentlemen may compound their Field Money at the following rates:

            A subscription                           £370

            B subscription                           £360

            C subscription                           £190

            D subscription                           £190

            E subscription                            £130

Young people aged between 21 and 25 pay 50% of these rates.

BUTTON MONEY

9.         Those that are in receipt of the Berkeley Hunt Button are to pay Button Money of £30 per year, whether they still subscribe or not.  The payment of Button Money entitles holders to wear Hunt uniform     both in the hunting field and on social occasions.
